Homelessness

A central goal is to focus our resources on helping our most vulnerable citizens on a priority basis and with programs designed to remove them permanently from the condition of homelessness.

  • The vulnerable populations to whom we have given priority include the chronically homeless, people exiting prisons and jails, and veterans.

  • We give priority to programs that seek to develop additional units of permanent supportive housing.

  • We fund effective advocacy that promotes solutions and policies to prevent and end homelessness.

  • We fund evidence based best practices and, more specifically, have a preference for programs that follow the “Housing First” model. That is, we believe that stable housing is often a prerequisite to dealing with the conditions that brought people to homelessness such as mental health issues, substance abuse, etc.

  • We support the Collective Impact model which seeks to align and coordinate public and private sector resources to end homelessness.
