Homelessness
A central goal is to focus our resources on helping our most vulnerable citizens on a priority basis and with programs designed to remove them permanently from the condition of homelessness.
The vulnerable populations to whom we have given priority include the chronically homeless, people exiting prisons and jails, and veterans.
We give priority to programs that seek to develop additional units of permanent supportive housing.
We fund effective advocacy that promotes solutions and policies to prevent and end homelessness.
We fund evidence based best practices and, more specifically, have a preference for programs that follow the “Housing First” model. That is, we believe that stable housing is often a prerequisite to dealing with the conditions that brought people to homelessness such as mental health issues, substance abuse, etc.
We support the Collective Impact model which seeks to align and coordinate public and private sector resources to end homelessness.
