Support for Abused Women and Children

The William S. Abell Foundation supports organizations that provide services for abused women and children.

DEADLINES:

  • Letters of intent are due January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.
  • Applications are due January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15

Before submitting a letter of intent or application, please review the following guidelines and then go to: Am I Eligible?

Grant requests must be from nonprofits operating in:

  • The District of Columbia;
  • Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland.

The Foundation will consider applications for:

  • Emergency legal and social services;
  • Crisis counseling for individuals and families;
  • Victim relief services;
  • Health services;
  • Financial assistance;
  • Transitional housing;
  • Other services for abused women and children.

The Foundation will not consider applications for:

  • Consecutive year grants;
  • Organizations that are not "public charities" as described in IRC S 509(a) (1) or (2).
